Nancy is an artist, educator, yoga teacher and native Los Angelina. She holds a BFA from the Art Center College of Design and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has been studying yoga since 1994. Her initial interest in mediation and yoga philosophy opened the door to asana practice, starting with the Bikram tradition. She was initiated as a Kriyaban of Self-Realization Fellowship in 1995 and after 2 years of mentorship, began teaching asana in 1997. Her practice grew to include aspects of the Phoenix Rising and Sivananda traditions, balancing the strength of a purifying athletic practice with the devotion and reverence of a bhakti practice and the precision of traditional Hatha instruction. After a 6 month hiatus from teaching in 2001, she was asked by Mas Vidal to help create the Shakti sequence at the newly-formed Dancing Shiva Studio. In addition, she created a Hatha Yoga program for teens in 2003 and teaches yoga at the high school where she is also a Photography and Video instructor. Her classes are physically challenging and devotional, and often include chanting and mantra.
